Independently analyze evidence to identify controlled substances p! resent using scientific testing procedures.
Perform analyses of chemicals seized in clandestine laboratories to determine method of manufacture and products produced. Other chemical and instrumental analysis may be performed as needed.
Maintain accurate chain of custody records and integrity on all evidence examined.
Prepare written reports including documentation of analyses performed and amount of sample expended in analysis.
Maintain, operate and repair sophisticated analytical instrumentation, including documentation of quality control parameters. Help evaluate future instrumental needs of the chemistry section.
Provide expert testimony in courts of law; provide pretrial conferences to district attorneys and defense lawyers.
Provide instruction to law enforcement officers concerning evidence collection and preservation.
Provide technical and administrative peer review.
Conduct and report proficiency! testing on a regular scheduled basis.
