Duties:
This position serves as the Bureau Chief for the Operations Bureau, which includes the Investigative unit, Compliance unit, Information Technology unit, and the Financial Administration unit for the Business Standards Division with the Department of Labor and Industry. The Operations Bureau Chief is responsible for leading the bureau; serving on the division management team; and setting goals and priorities.

Supervises and evaluates the bureau’s personnel including assigning duties; establishing priorities, procedures, and guidelines; and performance.

Drafts administrative rules and the Bureau’s proposals for rule changes and drafts legislation as needed.

Is responsible for the division’s automated systems including priority setting, scheduling, resource planning and project monitoring.

Provides oversight of the division’s budget in its entirety and advises the administrator of issues of concern. Provides direction to centralized services in matters relating to the division’s budget and financial management.

Is responsible for the management, supervision, prioritization and organization leadership of the investigative and compliance units. Ensures efficiencies and standardization of the operations, as well as cultivating and establishing process and policies with legal for best practices for both units. Acts as a liaison between Board Management and Licensing Bureaus for priorities and procedures.

Acts as the legal liaison to ensure the policies and procedures in place are consistent with the overall vision and mission of the division for the legal division. Is the primary contact with the Department’s Chief Legal Attorney.

Education/Experience:
The above competencies are typically acquired through a Bachelor degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and two years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience of six years. Directly related experience includes progressive management positions that demonstrate skills in the analysis and solution of complex problems. Supervisory experience is necessary.
