Responsible for following the patient throughout the period of disability and across ! the continuum of care decided upon; coordinate medical and return to work services; monitor patient’s progress on the treatment plan and employer’s return to work efforts; communicate progress and resolve problems to all team members; evaluate outcomes.

Qualifications:
1. Current Montana State registered Nurse license required
2. Minimum three (3) years of general nursing experience required, preferably including orthopedic, surgical, critical care, or related specialty areas.
3. Certification in case management is preferred.
4. Must possess verbal and written ability necessary to understand and communicate medical and occupational terminology and treatment plans
5. Must possess working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation laws, preferably for the State of Montana, and the Americas With Disabilities Act.
6. Must possess reliable transportation
7. This position requires current CPR/AED certification
8. Must pass employment ! screening administered by Northwest Healthcare
9. Current ! knowledge of Montana State Statutes to act as a resource to providers, employees, and providers.
10. Currently hold a NCCA certification in medical case management or the ability to obtain within 2 years from date of hire.

Job Duties:
1. Coordinate approved medical and occupational resources toward facilitating an injured worker’s successful return to work. Identify and is familiar with all resources available which provide appropriate care on a timely basis. *Contact made with provider and injured/ill worker within one day of referral. *All pertinent medical information requested within one day of referral. *Arrange appointments, referrals, or independent medical evaluations assuring appropriate medical records are available. *Review medication consumption and response, working closely with medical provider. *Research medical information as needed *Approve all bills for payment by the adjuster. *Assist providers with medical hold document retrieva! l and record review.
2. Documentation and Reports: *Review, analyze, and document medical reports on day of receipt. *Correspond with
providers to resolve medical questions. *Charting and TPA claims software updates are completed daily; closing reports are completed within one week of case closure. *Billing information is completed and given to Client Account Coordinator; month-end supplemental productivity report is provided to Supervisor. *Provide chart reviews for providers and adjusters. *Calculate and report weekly loss time days for NWHC injured workers.
3. Communication: *Communicate with injured employee at time of referral to explain process. *Communicate updated treatment plans with team. *Return telephone calls within one business day of call; chart returned calls and action taken. *Respond to concerns expressed by provider, injured worker, insurer, and/or supervisor within one business day; chart such communication. *Communicate with me! dical provider the need to relay to MCM any significant changes observe! d at time of examination. *Monitor care given and responses, communicating any significant changes to appropriate team members at that time. *Present pertinent medical information at scheduled team conferences. *Communicate with employee’s supervisor on a weekly basis regarding progress and return to work *Work with providers to facilitate timely response for evaluation and/or treatment; do not allow a communication breakdown. *Assist employee to actively participate in their recovery; do not allow a communication breakdown. *Able to provide conflict resolution between patients, adjusters, employers, attorneys and providers. *Act as a resource to outside providers regarding workers compensation questions. *Act as a resource for possible proactive safety issues within the corporation and outside clients. *Monthly case management meeting with adjusters. *Medical management updates on IPP for injured on non-injured employees of NWHC and external clients.
