Additional Salary Information: Applicants’ qualifications are assessed based on minimum qualifications and in accordance to Pay Plan Rules. Duties:
This position is responsible for a variety of professional ! investigative, compliance and administrative work related to the various wage and hour and employment laws administered by the Labor Standards Bureau.

This position interprets the wage and hour and employment laws, rules and related case law in order to adjudicate and mediate controversies. Much of this work involves interpreting and determining the rights of the parties arising under often disputed contractual issues involving oral and written employment agreements, contracts and personnel policies.

This position furnishes information to other agencies, attorneys, employers, employees, labor groups and general public relative to the functions of the Wage and Hour Unit and provides assistance as needed. This involves preparing information material, responding to inquiries from the public, businesses, other agencies, etc., and preparing and presenting the various wage and hour laws administered by the Bureau.

Requires a hig! h degree of skill and ability to communicate effectively orally and in ! writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, employers, other agencies and the public; plan and organize; exercise discretion and independent judgment in analyzing cases to determine information gathered; analyze conflicting facts and determine issues of credibility; mediate and conciliate with parties to cases; and work independently in an organized manner.

Education/Experience:
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree with course work in business, economics, accounting, or a related field plus one year of progressively responsible experience demonstrating the ability to explain and apply rules, investigate complaints and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
