Duties:
This position performs professional investigative work for the licensing boards with the Business Standards Division. This position drafts and submits investigation reports, provides litigation reports, and functions as lead investigator when using contract consultants or investigators.
Is responsible for investigating complaints of alleged violation of statutes and unlicensed practices as determined by the Screening Panels, Department Counsel or Board Counsel. Develops investigation plan, interviews witnesses and others, collects and preserves evidence, reviews documents, examines facilities and equipment, evaluates and analyzes information, identif! ies potential statute and rule violations related to the investigation, and prepares reports for the Screening Panel to review. Explains investigative process to consumers and licensees when engaged in an investigation.
Competencies:
Requires a professional knowledge of investigative theory, practice, principles and techniques. Must have the knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of statutes, rules and policies governing the licensing boards and compliance as needed as well as Administrative Procedures Act.
Must have skills in writing investigation plans and reports; basic computer use including similar software in Outlook, Excel and Word Processing. Must have analytical skills and knowledge and ability in use of civil and criminal procedures.
Must have the ability to develop rapport with others; ensure customer requirements are met; work in a team environment; provide quality work in investigations and reports; communicate effective! ly both verbally and in writing; follow policies, process and procedure! s; and make decisions and problem solve during investigations.
Education/Experience:
Requires relevant education and/or experience equivalent to five years. Qualifying education includes a 2-year college or vocational training in oral and written communication and 3 â" 4 years of relevant work experience that involves conducting investigations, preparing reports, and recommending appropriate action. Also requires computer literacy with word processing and data base use. Other combinations of relevant education and/or experience equivalent to five years will be considered.
