Senior Landman III Duties: Will be proficient in all aspects of land management and demonstrates negotiation skills and the ability to assis! t in developing leasing strategies. The individual may be responsible for supervising and mentoring less experienced professionals, brokers, consultants and/or attorneys. Acquire oil and gas leases on lands identified by technical staff, either directly or through use of lease broker. Support the development and approval of all permits necessary for the drilling and production of oil and gas. Coordinate operational activities with Landowners and other third parties. Obtain and evaluate titles and records, and summarize the negotiation, leasing and purchase of land. Ensure drill sites are ready both contractually and with clear or minimal / acceptable title risk, in a timely manner. Understand and negotiate more complex contract terms and conditions associated with the availability of land, leases for acquisition, development and/or divestiture. Conduct due diligence in the acquisition and divestiture of assets. Assists in developing leasing strategies. Negotiate, draft and ! administer agreements on exploration activities including join! t venture agreements, participation agreements, dry hole contributions, farm-ins, farm outs, confidentiality agreements, surface access / surface damage agreements. Maintain producing leases and co-owner relationships. Represent the company at land / lease sales. Coordination and research for governmental filings and hearings; testify at hearings as needed. Responsible for Landowner relations, negotiating surface use/access and related agreements. Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A B.S. degree in Energy Management, Land Management or Business; M.S. or J.D. degree preferred. 5+ years of industry work experience. Demonstrate advanced Office/ PC skills and effective use of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with company and industry-based analytical and scientific software. Demonstrate! detailed experience and knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations. Solid understanding of land management principles including negotiations, contracts, leasing title (i.e. titles, JOA , oil and gas leases, surface/mineral permits). Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to articulate intent of deal in written and verbal negotiations. Proficiency in mathematics; ability to calculate working interests, net revenue interests, unit ownerships, carried interest, back-end ownerships. Basic understanding and knowledge of acquisition/divestiture economic metrics. Strong analytical skills. Effective multitasking skills. Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills. Excellent communication including: written, verbal and formal presentation. Ability to interact with a cross-functional team to ensure aligned objectives and goal accomplishment. Some travel may be required.
