Duties:
Performs reception, legal secretarial support, and administrative support for attorneys and the conflict coordinator; updates case management system; and provides back up in the processing of coordination of conflict attorneys; prepares accounts payable and accounting documents (vouchers, journals, and encumbrance estimates) for input to the Statewide Accounting Budgeting and Human Resource System (SABHRS). Process letters and billing statements to conflict attorneys and vendors and reso! lves disputed transactions.
Competencies:
Seeking an applicant, who has a desire and willingness to work in a high paced work environment to provide legal support to attorneys who are responsible for providing criminal defense to indigent clients. Position requires considerable knowledge of Business English, Spelling, punctuation and writing skills; records management and filing systems; knowledge of the functions, procedures and organization of a law office functions; court and law enforcement system; criminal laws and procedures of the State of Montana; and records management and filing systems; understanding of different aspects of the criminal justice system, including law enforcement and jail procedures; legal terminology; administrative practices and office management including bookkeeping principles and practices specifically accounts payable and knowledge of personal computers for office applications and communications. Must have analytical, rese! arch, problem solving, and time management skills. Must have the abilit! y to communicate orally and in writing with a wide variety of people to maintain good customer relations and teamwork. Accuracy is highly important in this position. Must be able to follow complex instructions; to become familiar with all aspects of Office procedures; to independently gather, analyze, develop & research a variety of sources to resolve problems; to interpret, explain, and apply regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments and meet deadlines; and organize a large workload. Must be able to act independently and use initiative to make decisions as well as possess excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize projects; maintain orderly accurate flow of documents; work in a team oriented environment to accomplish common goals. Must have the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously with interruptions and be detailed oriented; must maintain confidentiality Knowledge of the State Accounting Budgeting and Human Resource S! ystem is preferred.
Education/Experience:
The above knowledge skills and abilities are typically acquired through graduation from high school and 3 to 4 years legal secretarial work experience.
