BLS-HCP Required

The mid-level practitioner will provide diagnostic and therapeutic patient care in a collaborative relationship
with the ! medical director. Patient care will be provided in clinic and in off site locations as indicated.
Care will include performing history and physical examinations, developing a differential and working
diagnosis, ordering laboratory and diagnostic studies and images, performing procedures within scope
of practice, developing and ordering treatment plans; providing patient and family education, ordering
of medications, and referring patients for specialty consultations as indicated.

Qualifications:Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited Master prepared program, and have obtained national certification according
to NP or PA national standards. Must be licensed in the State of Montana. Two years experience preferred in
occupational medicine. Current BLS certification required.

Knowledge:
Demonstrate professional medical knowledge to evaluate, diagnose and provide patient care. Demonstrate
! knowledge of medical equipment, organizational policies, regul! ations, and procedures to administer patient
care. Demonstrate knowledge of occupational and environmental exposures and the appropriate engineering,
management, and personal protective equipment strategies to maintain a safe work environment for workers.

Abilities:
Demonstrate skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of nursing and medicine
to provide on-going patient care. Develop and maintain skills in taking medical histories, performing
physical exams, interpreting findings, diagnosing medical conditions, formulating and prescribing treatment
plans. Develop and maintain skills in audiometric screening and hearing conservation programs, drug and
alcohol testing, respirator medical evaluation, pulmonary function screening and respirator fit testing,
impairment assessment, ACOEM treatment guidelines, and DPHHS disability exams. Prepare and maintain
documentation records such as clinic notes,! pre-operative physicals, and respond to incoming correspondence.
Coordinate care with the workers compensation team: employers, adjustors, case managers, treatment
providers, vocational rehabilitation, ergonomists, and lawyers. Assist with developing and maintaining
department quality assurance standards as necessary. Establish and maintain effective working relationships
with patients, medical staff, workers compensation team, employers, regulatory agencies, and the public.
Develop and present training programs for staff and public on subjects related to occupational medicine.
Present marketing information to current and prospective clients (employers and insurers.) Must have the
ability to maintain quality control standards. Demonstrate ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency
situations. Interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Communicate clearly.

Job Duties:

  • 1. Performs compre! hensive assessment of patients in the clinic setting.
  • 2. Integ! rate and interpret patient data to determine appropriate laboratory, imaging, and
diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • 3. Compile and evaluate data to determine differential diagnosis, establish working diagnosis
and treatment plan.
  • 4. Provide patient education regarding conditions, diagnosis, diagnostic procedures,
mediations and treatment options.
  • 5. Provide documentation that follows clinic standards and justifies coding and charges.
Completes chart documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • 6. Ability to make independent decisions about patient care.
