This position is an Office Manager with the Office of Legal Affairs at the Department of Public Health and Human Services . We are looking for a very special individual who can help us to provide services to promote healthy people, healthy communities.

Duties:
This position manages the Office! of Legal Affairs (OLA) administrative support staff that provides serv! ices for approximately fourteen attorneys. The main responsibilities include: 1) Managing the office's administrative functions by directing staff and maintaining work flow; 2) Coordinating and tracking administrative rule proposals involving the OLA attorneys; 3) Providing support on assignments such as legislative bill gathering and attorney time reporting.

This position supervises three employees.

Competencies:Required for the first day of work:
Knowledge of legal processes, legal document formatting, and civil/administrative procedures;

Knowledge of the techniques used in personnel management;

Skill in planning, delegating, organization, and maintaining deadlines;

Skill in identifying and resolving issues;

Ability to motivate and lead employees;

Communication skills, specifically written communication skills including proofreading and editing;

Ability to operate a personal computer! and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including using spreadsheet, word processing, database, email, internet and other computer programs;

Ability to build and maintain collaborative, professional relationships.

Education/Experience:
Associate degree in paralegal studies, human resources, public or business administration, office or personnel management, communications or a related field;

Five years' administrative support experience in a legal setting;

Experience with the legislative process;

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis;

Supervisory experience is preferred.
