SPECIAL INFORMATION:
POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is supervisory and professional youth probation work. Work includes overseeing the budget and day-to-day operation of the Youth Intake and Assessment center. Formal supervision is exercised over assigned staff and college-level interns. This position directs and supervises probation staff, evaluates performance, disciplines and approves leave time. Assigns cases to probation staff; Directs, approves and provides guidance for delivery of services to assigned cases. Conducts reviews of caseloads, reports to the court and interstate compact travel and supervision requests. Daily review and assessment of all incoming law enforcement cases; Makes recommendations to the County Attorney on delinquent cases to review, dismissal, informal and formal proceedings. Conducts informal preliminary hear ings on felony and chronic misdemeanor delinquent cases. Daily review of secure detention roster with probation officers to evaluate appropriate use of limited detention space and maximize use of detention alternatives for appropriate youth. Initiates and maintains youth hearing calendars of cases for law enforcement and the hearings officers.

- An employee new to the Judicial Branch will serve a one-year probationary period.
- The successful applicant will be subject to a criminal background check, including the Child Prote ction Services & Nurses registry.
- Travel may be required.
- Working hours may include evenings & weekends
