The Court Administrator, under the direction of the four District Court Judges, provides overall management leadership and is responsible for the smooth and efficient administrative operation of the 11th Judicial District Court. This professional position supervises directly and through subordinate supervisors the court employees including Judgeâs assistants, law clerks, court reporters and bailiffs. In addition, the Court Administrator provides managerial guidance to supervisory staff including the chief juvenile probation officer and family court services supervisor.
The Court Administrator plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, directs, and evaluates the work of judicial staff; coordinates and reviews the judgesâ daily schedules and coordinates with judicial assistants and court reporters and assigns courtrooms; establishes, monitors, and modifies trial calendars for all judgesâ civil jury, criminal jury, and non-jury terms including law and motion days; and coordinates caseload with judges, assistants, and attorneys to maximize efficiency.
This position meets with supervisors to discuss department activities, assist with the preparation and administration of their budgets, and assists in solving management or personnel problems; and attends department meetings. The Court Administrator prepares, administers and monitors the annual budget for several judicial departments.
Competencies: The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with these specialized knowledge, skills and abilities:
Education/Experience:
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, abilities and skills listed above. An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is:
Possession of a bachelorâs degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, criminal justice administration, court administration or a closely related field; considerable supervisory and/or administrative experience in a court-related environment.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Proof of insurance if using a personal vehicle on State business.
Certificate from the Institute for Court Management of the National Center for State Courts preferred.
