Duties:
This position is the primary assistant and staff person for District Court Judge Mary Jane Knisely. The assistant is responsible for performing all administrative support functions in a professional manner. The assistant will manage the court calendar by scheduling a variety of matters in consultation with the judge and other parties. The 13th Judicial District is a fast-paced environment and the successful applicant must have the ability to multi-task and manage a number of activities. Excellent customer service skills are required as well as solid knowledge of the legal system and legal terminology. Duties also include managing the efficient functioning of the office. Conflict is an inherent part of the position and the successful candidate must be adept at handling different people and issues. Experience with Microsoft Word is required. Experience with Full Court Case Management System is a plus. Position requires strong oral and written communication skills. The successful applicant must be able to draft legal orders and correspondence daily.

The position requires an associateâs degree in business or clerical studies or a similar field and at least two (2) years of progressively responsible legal experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience in a legal setting is required and can substitute for the associateâs degree. Experience as a high-level executive assistant is preferred and combined with legal experience may be considered to meet the two (2) year requirement.
A typing test is required with a minimum proficiency of 60 wpm.
