Duties:
Seeking an applicant who has a desire and willingness to work in a high paced work environment, providing customer service to our clients who have been accused and or convicted of criminal activity and learn various ! aspects of providing legal administrative support to attorneys and co-workers responsible for providing criminal defense to indigent clients.

This position provides reception, administrative support and legal secretarial support for the Office of the State Public Defender. This position will be responsible for answering phones for the Great Falls Office; provides legal secretarial support specifically for assigned Courts and will provide back up to other support staff in the office. Answer telephones, direct calls, and deliver messages. Manage calendars and arrange appointments. Completes forms and prepare legal correspondence and papers such as legal pleadings, summonses, complaints, motions, responses, pre-trial agreements, transcribe dictation and subpoenas under the supervision of an attorney. Mail, fax, track, or arrange delivery of legal correspondence and subpoenas to clients, witnesses, and court officials; make copies of correspondence, documents and other! printed materials. Organize and maintain documents and establish and m! aintain case files. Receive and place telephone calls, including researching information requests, responding to discovery requests, and others requests. Make arrangements for hearings, conference calls, and other appointments. Communicate with clients, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, provide information. Coordinate office functions with other agencies.

Must be dependable and flexible and work in a team environment; work effectively with detail and recall; be detail oriented, accurate and timely in producing work products; and type and enter data accurate! ly. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with our clients, judges, attorneys, fellow employees, and the public; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; work independently, with limited supervision and function effectively under pressure. Must have the ability to learn legal terminology and procedures and organization of a law office and different aspects of the criminal justice system.

Education/Experience:
The above competencies are typically acquired through graduation from High School and two years of progressively responsible support staff experience working in an office setting. Experience working in a law office or with the court system is desired.
