This position is located in the Probate Hearings
Division office in the Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) Billings,
Montana. The incumbent reports to the Supervisory Administrative Law
Judge and performs legal, clerical and administrative support functions
for the office.

The
Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) has determined that the duties of
this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed
to telework with supervisor approval. KEY REQUIREMENTS

Travel of 6-10 nights per month may be required.
You will be required to have f! ederal payments made by Direct Deposit. DUTIES:
At the ful! l performance level (GS-7) the duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Reviews
all material on probate cases to ensure they are current and complete.
Utilizing correct Protrac codes, incumbent maintains and updates case
information from the initial filing to completion, including correctly
coding the case to accurately note case status and location.

Searches
the Bureau of Indian Affairs records for information on decedents,
probate heirs, relations, inventories of decedents' trust or restricted
estates, and debts of decedents. Utilizing Protrac prepares computer
generated hearing notices, posting notices and attendance tracking
documents, and is responsible for mailing and posting of notices, as
required by law.

Attends hearings and services as the principle
assistant, performing the duties of a court reporter, operating the
recording equipment efficiently so as not to ! disrupt the proceedings.
Responsible for the accurate transcription and certification of the
recorded hearings and testimony material.

Responsible for the
orderly administrative operation of the office and coordinates with
others to accomplish work-related activities. Utilizing Protrac case
management system, monitors and updates the progress of pending items
and ensures deadlines are met.

Receives all incoming
correspondence, emails, facsimiles and deliveries, reviewing each
document for appropriate course of action and inputs required codes into
Protrac case management system for each item. All correspondence is
copies, filed and noted on the case tracking form. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualification Requirements
GS-05
ALL applicants must meet the requirements for the GS-05 grade level via one of the following means: Education: Four full years (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) beyond hig! h school at an accredited institution. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
OR Experience: To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, you must have at least one FULL year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as: experience in a business setting; sorting and distributing mail; using basic computer software skills to produce reports, drafting correspondence; maintain and creating spreadsheets and maintain electronic calendars.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience totaling 100% of the requirement. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Specialized! Experience GS-6: To qualify for the GS-6 level, all applicants must possess at least one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as: experience in a business setting; sorting and distributing mail; using basic computer software skills to produce reports, drafting correspondence; maintain and creating spreadsheets and maintain electronic calendars. Preparing travel authorizations and vouchers; researching Federal and State laws for case development; utilizing electronic research tools; attending probate hearings; reviewing legal documents for completeness and daily utilization of an electroni! c litigation case management system.

Specialized Exper! ience GS-7: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as: experience in a business setting; sorting and distributing mail; using basic computer software skills to produce reports, drafting correspondence; maintain and creating spreadsheets and maintain electronic calendars. Preparing travel authorizations and vouchers; researching Federal, State and Indian Probate laws for case development; utilizing electronic research tools; attending and assisting during probate hearings; drafting and reviewing decisions; confirming the correct distribution of Native American trust land and monies; reviewing and ensuring legal documents are complete; daily utilization of an electronic litigation case management system and competence utilizing court reporting eq! uipment.
