 Curry Health Center (CHC) is the primary health care provider for the students of the University of Montana. We fulfill our campus role of promoting student success by:

 The Behavioral Health Options Program (Options) provides substance abuse prevention/intervention and standard outpatient treatment. Its mission is to educate and motivate students to address high-risk behaviors associated with heavy alcohol or other drug use. 
 This position manages all the services provided by the Behavioral Health Options Program, which include behavioral intervention programs focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on substance abuse, skill-building seminars, as well as ASAM Level 1 outpatient treatment. This position requires managing and supervising a staff of one professional counselor and 12-15 student interns to provide services, and providing direct clinical services to University students, which requires assessing needs, diagnosing, generating and coordinating treatment plans, and providing individual and group counseling at an independent practice level. 
 The rat!   io of clinical work to management is 50/50. The position is responsible for managing all the cases from referring authorities (i.e. judges, Dean of Students, Director of Residence Life, faculty, etc.) and determining whether or not the needs of the student can be met through the service. When a studentâs needs outstrip the programâs services, the Coordinator serves as a liaison to local and regional treatment providers. The Coordinator oversees the scheduling of program services and the clients into those services; renders professional decisions independently; provides timely and factual information to the media (when requested) regarding substance use issues and services available. The position is responsible for assessing client satisfaction and developing the program to better meet the needs of the students. The Coordinator is an ex-official officer of the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Committee and serves as the chair. As such, the Coordinator is responsible for prepari!   ng the Universityâs Drug and Alcohol Biennial Review per federal law !   outlined in the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989. 
 The Coordinator collaborates with Director of the Counseling Service (or designee) to recruit, train, and supervise graduate-level interns in the integrated delivery of mental health and substance abuse services. This position oversees the scheduling requirements of student interns with respect to office assignments, group/seminar appointments, and assignment of Options client appointments. When interns are unable to meet their responsibilities (i.e. when they are ill or have academic conflicts) the Coordinator arranges relief service. The position oversees technology assistance to interns with particular respect to programs unique to Options/CHC. The Coordinator must stay current on Montana State Laws and University Policies regarding alcohol and other drugs, as well as the supervisory rules and regulations governing Licensed Addictions Counselors, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, Licensed Cl!   inical Social Workers, and Licensed Psychologists. 
 This position requires incumbent to develop working knowledge of AAAHC standards as they apply to Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse Programs and demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team within the Counseling Service and Curry Health Center. 
 Required Skills 
 Professional level knowledge of evidence based intervention/treatment practices for substance use and co-occurring disorders, as well as pertinent drug and alcohol information, legal issues, and current research findings 
 Understanding of the American Society of Addiction Medicine patient-placement criteria 
 Familiarity with or ability to learn the UM Student Conduct Code and relevant Montana State Laws 
 Demonstrated ability to apply the skills of Motivational Interviewing, particularly with mandated clients 
 Experience in group facilitation 
 Experience in addictions !   counseling and intervention 
 Ability to identify and assist cli!   ents with co-occurring disorders (substance use and psychiatric) 
 Ability to maintain clinical records in accordance with the policy requirements of Counseling Services and CHC 
 Skills include data management 
 Excellent case management with attention to detail to assure compliance and prompt completion of referral requirements 
 Demonstrated ability to learn and work with proprietary computer software programs. (Options uses an electronic record keeping and practice management software system titled Medicat, a Microsoft Access database, BANNER, as well as others) 
 Experience with personnel management and clinical supervision 
 Requires the ability to manage multiple schedules and coordinate office assignments for interns 
 Familiarity with models of program and personnel evaluation 
 Ability to establish and maintain relationships with local, state, and regional treatment providers, social service resources, as wel!   l as key campus and judicial constituents (Director of Residence Life; Dean of Students; judges; probation officers) 
 Requires the knowledge and ability to track referrals to assure compliance, notify referral sources of compliance/non-compliance, and to independently hold students accountable to their conduct code sanctions by placing and releasing university registration holds 
 Ability to communicate as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team; consult on matters pertaining to alcohol and substance abuse and co-occurring disorders; communicate with relevant parties, the progress of students in the program, costs, recommendations, and requirements remaining toward program completion 
 Knowledge of rules governing the transmission of personal health information, with particular expertise in matters related to substance abuse 
 Understands HIPAA and FERPA requirements, all aspects of confidentiality and exceptions, and relevant Montana la!   ws governing the sharing of mental health and substance abuse informati!   on 
 Strong public speaking skills with ability to present relevant information via lectures to classes and campus/community groups 
 Excellent interpersonal skills 
 Required Experience 
 Masterâs degree in counseling, social work, or psychology and eligible or possess a Montana Licensed Addictions Counselor credential (LAC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LCPC)/Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). 
 If not licensed, must be able to obtain LAC within a year of employment and LCPC/LCSW within two years of employment.
