The Justice Information Technology Services Division (JITSD) serves the Montana Department of Justice (DOJ) Attorney General and provides vital Information Technology (IT) infrastructure upon which Montanans and local and state law enforcement agencies rely for timely, accurate information. JITSD manages the IT systems, services, and interfaces to support nearly 800 DOJ employees, 325 statewide county motor vehicle system users, and over 3,000 Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) users across the state. JITSD’s work directly supports the citizens of Montana and the DOJ staff who are involved in legal cases involving the State and its people, missing persons, victim services, children’s justice, consumer protection, criminal investigations, highway safety, motor vehicle operations, gambling control, criminal history information, and forensic laboratory services. Our mission to enhance operations and efficiency with IT in the pursuit of the DOJ mission is challenging, exciting, and rewarding, both professionally and personally.

Job Overview:
The primary duties of the Desktop Support position are related to installation, maintenance and training for microcomputer workstations on local and wide area networks. The incumbent provides technical problem resolution on microcomputer workstations involving hardware, communications, or multi-product integration; supports end-user, data processing personnel, and managers; and provides trouble resolution for Department wide area network users. This position will serve in a rotating 24x7 on-call status in support of mission critical applications. Please see the full Job Description for a complete list of duties.

Qualifications

:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or closely related field and two (2) years of recent local area network hardware and software support experience, user support and technical support for varied programs running on IBM or IBM compatible equipment.

This agency will accept alternative methods of obtaining necessary qualifications. Examples of acceptable alternative methods:
Two year college or vocational training in Computer Science or closely related field plus three or more years of recent local area network hardware and software support experience, user support and technical support for varied programs running on IBM or IBM compatible equipment.
One year job-related or vocational training in Computer Science or closely related field and five or more years of job related experience (as described above) would be considered.
Note: A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
